The background of the Cultural Association of Ambelakia

The Cultural Association of Ambelakia was founded in 1986, whereas the founding convention took place on 23-1-1986, when the 17 Articles of Association were approved, by the number 28/1986 decision of the Court of the First Instance of Larissa and the Association was entered in its books by the serial number 1316/1986. it is a non - profitable association based in Ambelakia of the Prefecture of Larissa.

Today it numbers 116 regular members. It is managed by a five-member Board of Directors and controlled by a three-member Controlling Committee, whose members are elated in the general convention - the highest organ - of the Association, which takes place regularly every year and their tenure office last one year. The Taxpayer's Identification Number of Association is 090263054 and its resources come from the registration fees, the subscriptions, the assistances by the members and the returns from the various manifestations, donations, national allowances, financing, gifts and every other legal increase of its property.

The office of the Association in Ambelakia is located at the Center of Cultural Heritage of Ambelakia, in the old factory of textiles by Alevizos Asterios Legacy, 30 meters far away from the main square of the town.

First of all, the promotion of the cultural status of its members and the villagers themselves.
The guidance of the villagers about topics that interest them- creation of a sense of cooperation and mutual help.
The strengthening of the intellectual movement in Ambelakia.
The professional and cultural information as well as the support of the young people there.
The reestablishment of relations with people from Ambelakia, who are now living away in the interior of Greece or abroad.
The promotion of the ideas of Freedom, Equality, Democracy and the creation of a spirit of active contribution to the social progress.
The useful and positive entertainment both for villagers and visitors.
The collection of all the folklore material (customs, songs, various old tools and implements of everyday use, embroidery, photographs, etc), preservation and promotion of the rich historical, cooperative and architectural heritage of Ambelakia.
Another goal is the smartening up and maintenance of the traditional image of the settlement. Cooperation with other relative associations in the nearby area.
The organization and function of a lending library, collection of printed texts and audiovisual material for Ambelakia and the activities of its people.
Also, the organization of lectures, speeches, congresses, film projections, open discussions, exhibition of painting, photography, craft books, excursions and in general, every kind of educating and entertainment manifestation.
Finally, the creation of an Information Center for Young People, where they will be taught how to weave textiles in a traditional way.
